The India Chapter of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television will be holding the 8th IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival on March 5,6 and 7, 2012 in partnership with the India International Centre and Sangat South Asia.
The event will showcase the works of Asian women film makers in a range of genres – short fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, community videos and television reportage. The director could be living in any part of the world but should be of Asian origin.
Approximately 40 films will be selected. Though not mandatory, we prefer to screen films made in the last two years so that the selection reflects contemporary concerns and fresh energies.

The theme of the Festival in 2012 is MEDIATION, MOVEMENTS AND MEMORIES. The selection of films will explore issues and ideas shaping Asian identities and experiences, offering new perspectives on the contemporary world. The IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival is held every year around International Women's Day and is proving to be an increasingly popular event in the city's calendar. Members of the India Chapter volunteer their time and resources to put this annual festival together. We believe in the wealth of talent and potential that Asian women bring to film and wish to educate audiences about the diversity in documentaries and short films.
