OUR LIVES ... TO LIVE
NO! to gender violence
films of courage, protest, hope

We are happy to announce the
 SIMULTANEOUS LAUNCH OF THE FESTIVAL
in two cities on 23-25 Nov 2012
(click on the city for schedules)
Due to the sudden demise of P. Govinda Pillai (23 May 1926 – 22 November 2012), veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and ideologue and former Chief Editor of Deshabhimani, the launch in
has been delayed to 24 November 2012. The films scheduled for 23 November will now be screened on the morning of 25 November at 10.30 am.

This will be followed by screenings in
and all over India and South Asia right through 2013

The festival is an initiative of the IAWRT India Chapter and is a unique, first-of-its-kind year-long event with screenings at multiple venues, in multiple cities, and a diverse selection of films for each location...

OUR LIVES...TO LIVE is part of the One Billion Rising (OBR) campaign - a global effort for drawing attention to Violence Against Women and all kinds of gender-based injustice, within homes and communities as well as in other spaces.

CREATE YOUR OWN EDITION OF THIS FESTIVAL
We have a bank of 94 films - features, short fiction, documentary as well as animation works - from all over the world. We encourage you to design your own edition of OUR LIVES...TO LIVE with time built into your program for the discussions that are such an important aspect of this initiative.

We are happy to partner with NGOs, collectives and cultural institutions that wish to create their own festival. We invite you to make a selection of your own 20-40 favourites and host the event in your own campus/town/village.
