Ratnabali Mitra passed away on the night of Sunday, 5th July 2015, after an illness bravely fought.
She was currently Board Member of the IAWRT India Chapter.
Ratnabali had been producing short news features on Science, Technology and Environment for All India Radio, the public service broadcaster. She had also been a trainer associated with curriculum production for the National Council of Educational Research and Training and the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
She had been active in establishing the IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival on the cultural map of Delhi and was a familiar figure at the event at IIC every March.
In addition to the Akashvani Annual Award for her docudrama on the Digital Divide in the year 1996, she had been awarded for three books for children by the Children’s Book Trust.
